Featured Program

Saturday, March 25, 2017, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
The Human Library
The Human Library attempts to challenge prejudice by facilitating a conversation between two people: Books and Readers. Books are volunteers who have either been subjected to discrimination themselves or represent groups or individuals within society that are at risk of suffering from stereotype, stigma, prejudice or discrimination. Living Books often have personal experiences of discrimination or social exclusion that they are willing to share with Readers. Most importantly, Books give Readers permission to enter into dialogue with them, in the hope that their perspectives and experiences will challenge commonly held perceptions and stereotypes and therefore affect the attitudes and behaviors of wider society.

Human Library

Photography - Creating Art, Rules of Composition
You know how to work your camera...you point it at a subject...click. You're a photographer! Is it really that simple? Going from a technically perfect picture that is in focus, color balanced, and correctly exposed to an image that captures the viewer's imagination and tells a story requires that you do more than point and shoot. Visual arts such as painting and photography have developed certain compositional "rules" over the years, not by accident, but because they work. Understanding these rules, and when to break them will help you become a real "Photographer". Please register online or by calling 281-360-6804.

Human Library
